Your Fat Trap is made to the highest standards and we have ensured they are as simple as possible to install.
The fact they are a non-mechanical unit means there are no moving parts and all that is needed is for the inlet and outlet to be connected. Please follow these steps for successful installation and your Fat Trap will be ready to put into action straight away.
Please ensure the sink/s you are connecting are empty and will not be used during installation.
Before changing any of your current pipework and before installing your new FatTrap: Mix 125ml of FatTrap Drain Cleaner+ with 500ml of hot water and pour into the sink plughole. Leave for 5/10 minutes and flush through. For larger drains; mix 250ml FatTrap Drain Cleaner+ with 1000ml hot water.
We recommend that dishwashers are not connected to the Fat Trap and are diverted straight to your waste outlet. Dishwashers operate at a high enough temperature to negate the need for them to go through a Fat Trap. By connecting them, you will be affecting the performance of the Fat Trap and prevent fats, oils and grease from separating properly.
We recommend utilising a āUā bend between the sink and the Fat Trap. This will help with the general flow rate and help keep odours under control.
You may well have already decided if your Fat Trap is being installed inside our outside, either will be fine, particularly if you have gone for the 304 grade of stainless steel.
Whether it is going inside or outside, ensure you have a level surface in which to place the Fat Trap. We recommend using a spirit level, if the intended surface is not completely level it will affect the performance of the Fat Trap.
The Fat Trap can be positioned either way around depending on the set up of your intended installation area. Whilst in can be installed wither way around, you need to make sure the inlet and outlet are connected to the correct areas of your sink and drain, failure to do this will result in the Fat Trap not working and overflowing.
The inlet is clearly marked on the Fat Trap, but to be sure the inlet is the end in which the filter basket is situated. Both the inlet and the outlet have screw fixings and if you purchased the connection kit from Fat Trap they are easy to apply. If you are connecting using your own pipework then you will need to follow the installation guidelines for those particular parts.
Whichever parts you are using, you need to connect a pipe to the waste outlet from the sink beneath where the plug hole is. The other end of that pipe needs to be connected to the INLET on the Fat Trap. Please ensure both ends are properly tightened to prevent any leaks.
The other end of the Fat Trap is the OUTLET, this needs to have a pipe fitted to it which will then go into the normal drain. You may find you need to add different lengths of pipe in order to successfully get the OUTLET end into the drain.
Again, ensure everything is properly tightened and then run the tap slowly to check for any connection issues. If it is all clear, then the Fat Trap is ready for full use.
We advise that the model and size sticker is left in place on your Fat Trap. This clearly displays the capacity of the unit and is easily identifiable by any water company that chooses to inspect it.
